F-Class is a precision long-range rifle sport shot from the prone position at distances between 300 and 1200 yards. Competitors use scoped rifles with rests or bipods to achieve extreme accuracy. At our 300-yard range, we host modified F-Class competitions that challenge shooters to master wind and distance, with a “Stalking Rifle” category for hunters to get involved.

This discipline rewards focus, patience, and skill, offering a true test of marksmanship for shooters who enjoy precision and long-range performance under changing conditions.

Classic Rifle competitions celebrate the heritage of vintage firearms and marksmanship. Participants use rifles made before 1955, such as Lee Enfields, Schmidt Rubins, Carl Gustafs and Mosin Nagants. Matches are shot prone at 300 yards with open, dioptre, or scoped sights, making Classic Rifle a rewarding and affordable way to experience traditional shooting.

It’s a discipline steeped in history and craftsmanship, appealing to enthusiasts who appreciate the challenge and satisfaction of shooting with classic, time-honoured rifles.

This discipline focuses on accuracy, control, and precision with smallbore and centrefire pistols. Shooters fire from standing, kneeling, or prone positions in both timed and static stages. Events include Smallbore (.22LR), Centrefire (9mm, .38, .40), and WA1500 formats, all designed to enhance balance, focus, and consistent shooting performance.

It’s an engaging and technical shooting style that develops steadiness, coordination, and concentration, making it a favourite for those who value control and precision.

Gallery Rifle shooting uses shoulder-fired rifles at shorter distances with fast positional changes. The events are dynamic, testing accuracy, control, and timing across different stances. It’s an accessible and exciting discipline that encourages shooters of all levels to refine their technique and enjoy competitive precision shooting.

Do I need previous experience to take part in shooting disciplines?
No, beginners are very welcome at An Riocht Rifle & Pistol Club. Our qualified instructors provide guidance on firearm safety, technique, and range procedures, ensuring you can start confidently and safely.
What equipment do I need to begin shooting?
If you’re new to the sport, you can begin without owning your own firearm. The club can provide advice on suitable equipment and, where possible, arrange use of approved firearms under supervision during training sessions.
What shooting disciplines can I try at the club?

How can I take part in competitions?

Is the range open all year round?
Yes — the range is open every weekend and during the week by arrangement. Our facilities are suitable for shooting in most weather conditions, and members can book time to practise or take part in scheduled competitions.
